A Hidden Treasure from Pre-Roman Times

A remarkable discovery has unfolded in southern Italy, where archaeologists have unearthed a burial site dating back to pre-Roman times. This necropolis, located near the town of Amorosi, was discovered during excavations for the construction of an electricity power station.

A Glimpse into a Bygone Era

The excavation has revealed a wealth of grave artifacts, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who lived during the final stages of the Iron Age and the 8th-7th century BC. The site encompasses 88 tombs within a 13,000 square meter area.

Vases and Weapons Adorn the Graves

Excavations have uncovered a vast collection of vases, ranging in shape and size. These vessels were often stacked atop one another, and typically placed at the feet of the deceased. Male tombs yielded weapons, while female tombs contained bronze ornaments such as bracelets and pendants.
